Obama declares that he will veto SOPA, but I've been hurt before.

Obama has responded to We the People petitions on SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) saying that "...proposed laws must not tamper with the technical architecture of the internet through manipulation of the domain name system, DNS, a foundation of internet security."  He also states "Across the globe, the openness of the Internet is increasingly central to innovation in business, government, and society and it must be protected."

This bill is incredibly important to information professionals.  Its wording is purposefully dense and nebulous, but it boils down to being something that is no friend to freedom of speech.  This blog and the umpteen others that link to other content could be shut down by SOPA... and we wouldn't want that would we.  I'm not even sure that a Google search could even exist under the SOPA law.  Hopefully Obama will follow through on his rhetoric.
