Finding that Needle in a Haystack: The Power of Full Text Searching in Chronicling America

Two of my co-workers at the Digital Collections Library at USC, Virginia and Santi, are working on the South Carolina Digital Newspaper Program.  This project is in conjunction with the National Archives program, Chronicling America: Historic American Newspapers and is an important new resource for many disciplines.  Virginia's latest blog post shows how the project can be used for researching cultural objects that are linked to a specific time period.  An archaeologist friend sent her a picture of a bottle that he wanted identified.  And she was able to pull the answer quickly from the Digital Newspaper database.
